A Maltese man has invented a life-saving baby suit which can indicate when babies are overheating.

Chris Ebejer who lives in the UK together with his wife and son in Suffolk, signed a £12.5million contract with manufacturer Quality Workwear 4 U, in Milton Keynes.

The suits called Babyglows come in pink, blue and pastel green, all of which turn white as soon as the baby’s temperature rises above 37 degrees Celsius. This could assist parents to see and act quickly to the baby’s temperature change, even at the early stage of illness, and even before the illness is even visible in the baby.

The invention has recently featured in top UK media. Babyglow UK in fact said that the high demand for the products has been unsurpassed from the world wide readers, to an extent that the all mail boxes for Babyglow crashed due to the high volume of enquiries. Babyglows will be available from October for £20 a pack.

The company has recently indicated plans to develop new ranges for early 2010.

The Daily Mail reported that Mr Ebejer, who had his idea while watching a documentary about babies, began the search for an ink pigment with heat-sensitive molecules.

He spent six years and £700,000 working with scientists to develop-the pigments to embed into cotton babygrows.

The newspaper also said that Mr Ebejer has signed sales deals in a number of countries including the U.S. and is negotiating with High Street stores.
