Man charged with domestic violence
Early on Sunday afternoon the police charged a 46-year-old man in court for a number of related crimes, including domestic violence, violence against the police and the illegal possession of a firearm.
The man, Angodej Micallef, who lives in Cospicua, was accused of a number of incidents that occurred late on Friday 22nd May.
At around 11pm he allegedly threatened and hit out at a number of people including three police officers who were called to the scene. He also was accused of allegedly attacking Grace and Justin Micallef and slightly injuring them. The injured are Angodej’s wife and son.
Apparently, the accused had been threatening Grace Micallef with a firearm for a number of months prior to this incident. Angodej Micallef was also charged with swearing and breaching the public peace, together with the illegal possession of a firearm.
The accused pleaded not guilty but was remanded in custody. The prosecution is being led by Inspector Fabian Fleri.
