Cricket: Krishna win against Melita
The Cricket Globalair Summer league continued with the two games on Saturday In the first game Krishna C.C played Melita C.C.
Krishna winning the toss and elected to bat first. Nowell Khosla opened the batting and played an incredible innings scoring a hundred and ten runs including thirteen fours and a six. The Melita fielders had their chances of catching him but could not hold on to the ball. The first chance was when Khosla was on fifty four runs. The difference in the runs may have had a drastic change to the games result. The Krishna team totaled 164 runs with Joy Ghoseroy the only other batsman making it to double figures with twenty three runs. For Melita Andy Lenard, Andy May and Justin Brooke all took a wicket each.
In reply the Melita batsmen could only manage 100 runs with Andy Lenard top scoring with thirty runs, Tim Edwards twenty runs and Tim Wheeler seventeen runs. A fantastic bowling performance from Alan Kyle had the Melita team in trouble taking five wickets for fourteen runs from five overs. This included an amazing four wickets from four balls. Krishna won the game and earned nine points.
In the second game Marsa C.C played against Overseas C.C. Marsa won the toss and elected to bat first. Javed Shah top scored with his highest total to date in the competition with sixty six runs, Ronnie Sacco scored forty three runs and Mike Caruana scored twenty four runs. The Marsa side totalled 165 runs. Justin Barloggio was the main wicket taker for the Overseas with three wickets while Dax Fernandes took two.
In reply the Overseas side were bowled out for seventy five runs. Stuart Lloyd scoring twenty four runs and Justin Barloggio scoring twenty five runs for the Overseas team. For the Marsa team Mike Caruana took three wickets while Sarfraz Ali took two.
The ladder standings after this days play, Marsa C.C 49 points, Krishna C.C 41 points, Melita C.C 17 points and Overseas C.C 11 points.
Next Saturday will be the last day of the Globalair Summer League with the two top sides battling it out to see who wins the League at 11:30am while Melita C.C take on Overseas C.C for third place.
On Sunday Marsa C.C take on touring team ANT CC from Cyprus at 10:30CET. The Academy will be from 9:30CET till 11:30CET.
