Tony Coleiro was elected President of Skål International – Malta at the organisation’s AGM 2009. He presented his plan of action for year 2009 / 2010, to those present at the AGM.

During his inaugural speech after his election, Mr. Coleiro he said that his first task is to meet existing members in the coming weeks to discuss further all the new benefits that Skålleague members could get from the Association, and will also be meeting the Tourism Industry in a membership drive campaign. Young Skål is also one of the important tasks in his plan for this year.

He also added that jointly with his committee and through members’ participation in local activities and events at all levels, members meet industry colleagues in Malta, Gozo and from around the world, in an atmosphere of amicable, ideas, opportunities and industry matters, in general, may be shared on a personal and business level, notwithstanding the fact that tourism industry is passing through difficult times.

Skål is a professional organisation of tourism leaders around the world, promoting global tourism and friendship. It is the only international group uniting all branches of the travel and tourism industry. Its members, the industry’s managers and executives, meet at local, national, regional and international levels to discuss and pursue topics of common interest. The first Club was founded in 1932 in Paris.

Skål International today has approximately 22,000 members in 480 Clubs throughout 89 nations. Most activities occur at local level, moving up through National Committees, under the umbrella of Skål International, headquartered at the General Secretariat in Torremolinos, Spain.
