Paramedics Association elects new committee
The Association of Paramedics and Health Professionals recently held its annual general meeting at the Catholic Institute in Floriana. APHP was set up in 2007 by a group of paramedics from different health care professions with the aim of raising public awareness about the contribution of their respective professions towards health services. There are over 1,200 registered paramedics and health care professionals in Malta.
APHP president Mr. Jeremy Lanfranco gave an overview of the committee’s work throughout the past year.In his speech Mr. Lanfranco emphasized that 2008 was a crucial year for the association since it had to establish its role among members of the paramedic professions, government officials and other institutions.
He mentioned that most of the work focused on the process so that the association will be registered as an NGO. Mr. Lanfranco went on to describe various meetings held with the health authorities, members of the paramedic professions, trade unions and senior government officials on issues concerning paramedics. Mr. Lanfranco concluded by thanking all the members who served in the previous committee and augured the new committee to build on the work of the previous one.
