Golf: McIlroy’s one shot Dubai Desert classic victory
Rory McIlroy claimed a one shot victory over Justin Rose to win the 20th Dubai Desert Classic at the Emirates Golf Club on Sunday.
The 19-year-old from Northern Ireland, who was winning his first professional tournament, carded a final round two-under-par 70 to finish at 19-under. Henrik Stenson, winner of the tournament in 2007, finished this year in third on 17-under-par.
The win takes McIlroy up into 14th place in the world rankings and into second place in The Race to Dubai.
