The Food Safety Commission has reportedly increased its inspections in retail outlets checking food ingredients originating from China for any contamination, following reports in the international media of Melamine in some food products.

Health inspectors have been checking stakeholders who trade in Asian products especially foodstuffs which contain more than 15% milk or milk products.

There were no recent reports in Malta about contaminations relating to Chinese foodstuffs.
