The Mellieħa Local Council will be organising the first edition of Mellieħa’s New Year’s Even Celebrations, open for the public, in the Mellieħa Parish Square. This event is being supported by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Local Government and the Malta Tourism Authority.

This event will start at 9pm with a varied programme of music and songs for all the family. A children’s choir and local musicians and DJs will also take part. At around midnight a 3D projection will be displayed on the facade of the Parish Church, and the New Year will be welcomed with a spectacular fireworks’ display coordinated by the Mellieħa Fireworks Society, Għaqda tan-Nar Maria Bambina. A varied musical programme for everyone’s taste will follow.

As part of the preparations for this event, the Mellieħa Local Council has published a programme of events offering space for the Mellieħa NGO’s to promote their acitivites which are being organised during the Christmas period. This programme will be distributed in various localities around Malta so that the Council continues to support these local NGO’s and their activities.
