The police have reported that Mr Paul Sheehan, a police constable and the driver of the home affairs minister, was charged with the attempted murderof Briton Stephen Morrison Smith, causing voluntary damage to a vehicle, discharging a firearm in a public place and exceeding the limits of his authority as a police officer. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody.
