Following the previous match between Fleur de Lys Westen and Southend Volleyball Club on the 14th of December, which lasted over two and a half hours, Saturday’s re-match was a big let-down for the Southenders. These failed to live up to the expectations, as Fleur de Lys Westen’s system seemed to be unbreakable.

The first set lasted only 23 minutes, with Fleur de Lys Westen closing the set at 25-12. During the second set, Southend put in all their efforts but after leading for most of the set, they surrendered at 26-24.

Unfortunately the third set was just a formality, with Southend sporadically showing signs of life but never troubling Fleur de Lys Westen who were definitely the superior team on the day. The third set ended at 25-20. This convincing win for Fleur de Lys comes only one week after their disappointing outing against Valletta Mapei.

In the ladies league, Playvolley had the better over Paola by winning the match 3-1.
