Provisional seasonally adjusted data published by the National Statistics Office (NSO) show that industrial production decreased by 0.9 per cent in September over the previous month.

When compared to the corresponding month last year, the index of industrial production adjusted for working days rose by 1.6 per cent.

In September, industrial production went down by 0.9 per cent to 109.1 points. This was mainly due to decreases in the production of energy (-3.7 per cent), consumer goods (-3.6 per cent) and capital goods (-3.3 per cent).

On the other hand, the production of intermediate goods went up by 1.0 per cent.

When compared to the corresponding month last year, the index of industrial production went up by 1.6 per cent. Increases were registered in the production of capital goods (+6.4 per cent) and consumer goods (+2.7 per cent) which were partially offset by a drop in theproduction of energy (-4.1 per cent) and intermediate goods (-0.5 per cent).
