Provisional seasonally adjusted data published by the National Statistics Office (NSO) show that industrial production increased by 3.8 per cent in March over the previous month.

When compared to the corresponding month last year, the index of industrial production adjusted for working days increased by 5.9 per cent.

The industrial production index increased by 3.8 per cent to 109.6 points in March. All main industrial groupings registered an increase, the largest increase being observed in the production of intermediate goods of 7.6 per cent. The other industrial groupings followed suit, whereby the production of consumer goods, energy and capital goods went up by 1.4, 0.2 and 6.9 per cent respectively.

When compared to the corresponding month last year, the index of industrial production increased by 5.9 per cent. This was due to increases of 11.7 and 7.8 per cent in the production of intermediate and capital goods respectively.

On the other hand, the production of energy and consumer goods decreased by 2.4 and 4.4 per cent respectively.
