Taxpayer’s charter launched

On Friday morning Finance Minister Tonio Fenech launched the Taxpayer’s Charter during the International Tax Conference, organised by the Malta Institute of Taxation.
Speaking at the launch minister Fenech said that taxation rate in Malta was amongst the lowest in Europe with the government’s income from taxes being that of 34.7 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP), against the European average of 37 per cent.
He added that the charter aims to strengthen the relationship between taxation department and the public. He added that it is of utmost importance that the government provides a fair and efficient service.
