Six of the alleged victims of sexual abuse by members of the clergy at St Joseph Home, on Saturday asked for justice and said that the local Church response team took too long to refer the case to the Vatican.

Lou Bondi said that the case had been before the Church authorities for seven years, it started nearing conclusion only after the meeting of the victims with Pope Benedict.

Six of the victims, two of whom unveiled their name only on Saturday morning, said that they had been informed through letters from the church that the case could precede.

In a letter issued on Friday Fr Louis Mallia said that the allegations against Fr Charles Pulis, Fr Conrad Sciberras and Br Joe Bonett were founded.
