Posted on September 9th, 2010
The funerals of the six Gozo fireworks explosion victims have been postponed because of delays in the release of the bodies, according to a report in The Times.
Sources told the newspaper that there were ‘complications’ when the first autopsies were held Thursday morning and DNA tests will have to be made. A spokesman for two of the families confirmed the postponement, the report said.
Jean Pierre Azzopardi, was due to be buried tomorrow at Xewkija, with the joint funeral of the other five victims following on Saturday afternoon in Fontana.
The Prekursur Band, which was to have taken part in Friday’s funeral, confirmed on its website that the funeral had been put off, the report says.
