€350,000 allocated to Naxxar explosion victims
On Tuesday, Social Policy minister John Dalli announced that the Housing Authority has allocated €350, 000 as aid for the families that were somehow affected by the Naxxar fireworks explosion back in March.
It is believed around 74 families were affected by the explosion and are now seeking government’s help to rebuild or repair their houses.
Dalli said that other professional help has already been given to these families including the support of social workers and the Housing Authority which helped them find alternative accommodation.
The minister also said that four houses either collapsed on the explosion or had to be demolished following the substantial damages they sustained in the explosion. These four families who lived in Triq Hal-Dghejf at the time, are to receive some €284,700 between them. It is hoped that this money, together with the compensation they received from their insurers, will help them rebuild their house.
