Cricket: Marsa Combined Team wins the series 3-0
On Saturday The Marsa Combined side took on the Rest in the third game of the series looking to white wash the Rest.
The Rest won the toss and elected to bat first. Nowell Khosla opened the bowling and was on fire taking a wicket in his first over that of Tim Wheeler who had only the one scoring shot for two runs. Wheeler was caught behind after edging the ball. Joy Ghoseroy took the catch with relative ease. Next to go was Justin Brooke who had scored five runs was caught by Angelo Spiteri also from the bowling of Khosla. Faraaz Bhatti was next to go giving Kevin Krishna his only wicket for five runs. Andy Lenard was the only batsmen who brought respect to the batting scoring thirty nine runs not out. He scored two fours along the way and taking plenty of singles which showed that the Marsa team were bowling very well. The Rest was bowled out for a mere ninety runs. Ronnie Sacco did not help their cause by taking a hat trick.
Joy Ghoseroy and Mark G.Sacco opened the batting for the Marsa side. Ghoseroy was first to go being beautifully bowled by Andy Lenard with an in swinging Yorker. Ghoseroy had made eighteen runs including one boundary. Sacco remained till the end scoring a patient forty runs not out and hitting four fours along the way. His Brother Ronnie was next highest score scoring twenty six also hitting four fours along the way. The Marsa team won comfortably and managed to win the series three to nil.
The Chairman’s XI will take on the Captain’s XI on Saturday. The game will kick off at 11:00CET. The academy/nursery will be from 9:30CET till 11:30CET. This will be the last session for this year and being a public holiday is a perfect opportunity for children to come and try the game.
