Malta Arts Festival 2010: Ospizio
A Site-Specific Theatre Project by Theatre Anon commissioned by the Malta Arts Festival. The magnificent Ospizio in Floriana was originally a powder mill built by the Knights, and over the years, and centuries, used as an institution for the more vulnerable members of society – the old, the sick, the infirm, orphaned and unwanted children, prostitutes, the destitute. Its derelict walls and ruinous remains bear the scars of a turbulent history. They have a fascinating story to tell – a tale from which the story will be derived. This is not an ordinary production. Apart from featuring a cast of actors, dancers, singers and musicians, the piece is being developed specifically for performance on this particular site and the characteristics of the site itself are as much a part of the act as the performers and the story themselves. The audience participates fully in the journey, moving through the site and discovering its secrets as the story unfolds around them. With a story that begins with a carnival atmosphere before taking a turn for the eerie, Ospizio promises to provide a unique experience to theatre-goers.
Cast includes: Isabella Attard, Toni Attard, Daniel Azzopardi, Stefan Farrugia, Paula Fleri-Soler, Charlotte Grech, Sandra Mifsud, Liliana Portelli, Hanna Schembri, Louiselle Vassallo. Director: Paul Portelli

They seem to be facing up to a chain of ruptures… unless they are performing a series of transitions.’ Martine Pisani.

Their mission is to interpret the distinguished existing repertoire for brass trio, and to expand that repertoire through the commissioning of new works.
