L-Ghanja tal-Poplu 2008 will be held in the Grand Ballroom at the Hotel Phoenicia on the 29th November at 1930 CET. In this year’s festival, songwriters and bands will interpret and accompany their own songs, unplugged.

The 33rd edition of the festival of original Maltese songs will see the participation of X-Tend, Walter Micallef, Frank O’Neill, Judy Scibberas, Corazon, Justin Galea, Rita Pace and Teddie Zammit, Maria Abdilla, Geordie family & friends, Brikkuni, Lindsay Lee Zarb, Quicksand
and Antoine Cortis

In the second part of the festival, Salvu Tanti and friends will delight the audience with their guitar performance.

The group New Courey will be honoured with the award L-Għanja li tibqa’ for their contribution in the local music scene. It will be an occasion where the children of the late Sammy Bartolo together with the New Cuorey members will interpret songs from the group’s repertoire.
Towards the end of the festival, the best three songs will be announced and re-interpreted. Special prices and l-Ghanja tal-Poplu 2008 will then be awarded.
