A 60-year-old man was seriously injured early on Tuesday afternoon when he opened a parcel bomb at his residence in Qormi.

The police said the incident happened at around 13:20 CET in St Edward Street Qormi when the man was opening a parcel he had just received.

The man was taken to hospital where he was certified to be seriously injured and in danger of dying.
