Two new wards at Mt Carmel Hospital
Two new wards for the elderly costing almost 2 million euros were inaugurated by Parliamentary Secretary for the Elderly and Community Care Mario Galea on Sunday morning.
The new wards were named San Ġorġ Preca and Santa Bernardetta and will accomodate 63 elderly persons needing long-term treatment. The new wards cost a total of €1,965,800.
Facilities also include two large dining rooms, two atriums, two staff rooms, two nursing stations, a doctor’s room and a room for the consultant, chambermaid units, two treatment rooms, two pantries, two sluice rooms and a sizeable patio.
The new compound has been installed with a number of energy-saving measures including double-glazing, energy-saving lights, a power factor correction system and bigger windows to allow mroe sunlight to pass through.
