With the recent recruitment of a new General Sales Manager, Yellow Pages have taken a step further towards consolidating the current sales policy and upgrading corporate campaign. David Gatt is the new component within the YP workforce, and will be responsible not only for motivating and developing a retinue of managers but also of continuing the ongoing transformation of the present sales team focusing on being action-centred and results-oriented.
Mr. Gatt steps in just as YP introduces several products and features for its wide range of clients. With the arrival of the new 2009/2010 edition of YP, the general public is being invited to seek new ways to access information they require through the assistance of the world-wide-web. YP can now be accessed through all sorts of technological gadgets including mobile telephony and home computers. Each and every page of the big yellow book can be accessed with a click, starting from the contact numbers of listed advertisers to the road maps that are so handy in finding your way around and seeking out companies and services you require when you’re driving around. One may even contact listed companies directly via email links even when the big yellow book is not at hand.
YP has come up with a package of possibilities ranging from advertising on the directory through to the creation of websites that will help make advertisers visible.
Certainly Mr Gatt is not new to the idea of maximising all possible sales opportunities. He holds an MBA Degree as well as a Diploma in Management studies from the University of Malta and has previously held varied important roles in the sales arena, namely as Country Manager with the leading supermarket chain Lidl, whose string of outlets was opened in Malta over the past years. In this capacity, he was responsible for the sales, operations and logistics management of all the company’s supermarkets operating in Malta. Prior to this post, he had worked for Lidl Italy, managing four supermarkets there. Mr. Gatt who also forms part of the Yellow Pages senior management team says, “My role at Yellow Pages is not merely to promote sales but also to identify any deficiencies in the management of people and provide solutions or motivate managers to find a resolution to their problems. I share the company’s determination that a disciplined and motivated workforce is required if one is to make headway in today’s competitive world.
Whilst Yellow Pages hold an undisputed role on the Maltese Islands, the onus is constantly on maintaining a high level of performance to help support out thousands of clients, whichever end of the service they may be at.”
