52-year-old Paul Demicoli and 33-year-old Kevin Bonnici were jailed for three years and 18 months respectively after they were found to be responsible for the deaths of two women in a building collapse in St Paul’s Bay five years ago.
The two men were found guilty of involuntary homicide due to negligence for the deaths of 60-year-old Maria Dolores Zarb and 24-year-old Nadezda Vavilova. They were also ordered to pay €6,000 in damages.
The block of apartments in which these two women were had collapsed due to negligence in excavation work taking place right next to the building.
