Maltese singer Kevin Borg, who lives and works in Sweden, has won an award for the most promising singer for 2009.

The 23 year old Maltese singer beat stiff international competion to win the award which is expected to open new doors for his career.

Borg rose to musical fame as the winner of the fifth series of the Swedish singing competition Idol in 2008.
