Palazzo Falson, the newly restored, state-of-the-art museum, has been enriched with an an upgraded audio guide system thanks to a donation by Vodafone Malta Foundation which has has been one of the main benefactors of Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti for the past years with most of the funds going towards the Palazzo restoration project.

Maurice de Giorgio, Chairman of Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti, thanked the Vodafone Malta Foundation for their contribution towards the upgrading of Palazzo Falson’s audioguide system. “This system is an indispensable part of the Museum experience for the visitors to Palazzo Falson. The choice of languages offered by the new audio guide has been extended to six languages and we are planning to include other languages in a bid to make the Museum as inclusive as possible for visitors of all nationalities, while disseminating knowledge of our cultural heritage. We will also be increasing the number of audio-guide units to cater for all our visitors,” said Mr de Giorgio.

“During the last years, Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti has been occupied with the responsibility of the restoration of Palazzo Falson, as well as with the conservation and restoration of its forty-five collections, which are now magnificently displayed within this house museum for all to see. Contributions from private entities are vital for such projects and the Vodafone Malta Foundation is pleased to help safeguard Malta’s rich patrimony,” said Ms Gemma Mifsud Bonnici, Chairperson of the Vodafone Malta Foundation.

Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum, is the second oldest standing palazzo in Mdina. It houses an extraordinary collection of art and antiques, including paintings, furniture, silver, armour, jewellery and coins. The ground floor of the Palazzo dates back to the 13th century. The Collection was put together by the Palazzo’s last recent owner and resident, Captain Olof Frederick Gollcher OBE (1889-1962) who was a man of many parts and an avid collector. Palazzo Falson and its collections were recently restored by Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti and the museum re-opened to the public in May 2007.
