These revisions reflect the prices fetched by Enemalta for the latest shipments of imported fuel. The September unleaded consignment was based on August Platts prices, the same basis used for previous revisions. Still reduction in the price was mainly brought about by favourable exchange rate movements.

With regards to diesel prices, no diesel consignments were made during the month of September and the revised diesel prices were based on August consignment, priced on August levels. The revised diesel prices are lower due to the movements in stock levels.

Since January this year, Brent crude oil prices have surged by almost 40% from a level of $46.91 a barrel to $65.49 a barrel as illustrated in the graph below.

Petrol prices (CIF Med, Prem Unl 10ppm) increased throughout the third quarter ending September 2009, surging from an average level of $630.98/MT in July to an average of $640.72 in September, that is, an increase of 1.54%.

Diesel prices (CIF Med, Diesel 10 ppm) increased by 5.5% from an average level of $546/MT in July to an average level of $576/MT in September.
