The Core Group of the Malta-EU Steering and Action Committee met on Friday to continue the debate on a Common Policy on Immigration within the European Union, a debate which was launched on September 26th, a day after the Ministers of Justice agreed on the European Pact on Immigration which included a clause on voluntary burden-sharing.
The meeting was attended by the chairman of the MEUSAC Core Group, the parliamentary secretary for Information, Chris Said, and by MEP Simon Busuttil who in June was appointed rapporteur for the European Parliament on the Immigration Pact.
Said said that having Busuttil for the meeting was a golden opportunity to let the European Parliament know of Malta’s concerns about the topic.
