The Institute of Maltese journalists said that Smartcity has rectified its position regarding interview to journalists after it was reported that Maltatoday journalists were asked for €2,300 before being given any comments.

IGM said that this kind of procedure goes against the right for the freedom of press and that it had queried BPC, the advertising company for the project, about the procedure.

In turn, BPC assured the IGM that it will receive any questions from journalists and provide replies.
