Two men lost their life n a traffic accident in Council of Europe Road, Luqa on Wednesday evening. Another person was hospitalised with injuries.

A car, a Kia, reportedly crashed into a tree and then into another car, a Hyndai, coming from the same direction from Sta Lucia in the direction of Luqa at around 1830 CEST. The driver and the passenger in the former car lost their lives on impact.One of the men is 52, from Valletta, the police said.

The driver of the second car, a woman, 30, was hospitalised, suffering from a shock, while a passenger in the same car was unscathed.

The police had to close the road for some time.

Civil Protection Department personnel had to be called to release the victims from the wreckage.

The duty magistrate ordered an inquiry. Police are investigating.
