Basketball: Europe Under 18 Women Championship in Malta
The FIBA Basketball Europe Under 18 Women Division C Championship will be held in Malta between the 14th July and 18th July 2009. This will be the second consecutive time and the third occasion that the Malta Basketball Association will host this tournament.
The last edition was in 2007 when Malta won the gold medal for the first time in the competition. Together with Malta there will be four national teams taking part in this championship which will be played on a round robin method. These are Luxembourg, Moldova, Gibraltar and Monaco.
National coach Sandro Farrugia and his assistant Emilio Trivelli chose the following players to form the Maltese National Squad: Lisa Pace, Elena Cassar, Kristy Tonna, Louisa Serge, Becky Naudi, Steffi De Martino, Kelly Busuttil, Kristina Martinelli, Emma Micallef, Justine Busuttil Gaerthy, Justine Xuereb, Andrea Mifsud.
The first game between Moldova and Monaco will be played on Tuesday 14th July at 16.30CET . After the game there will be the opening ceremony followed by the debut of the Maltese National team versus Luxembourg at approximately 18.45CET.
