Opposition Leader Dr Joseph Muscat stated that there is no other option for Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi but to withdraw the proposals about the revisions of utility bills and start proper consultations with social partners.

Muscat said that the revisions as proposed by government would be equal to a surcharge of 245% and every household will see its bills go up by some 77%. He also said that there were discrepancies in statistics presented by government as these took into considerations garages and summer residences.

Moreover, governments for an eco reduction for those who consume less than 1,300 units is unrealistic.
