AD urges Pullicino not to give in to pressure
In view of Monday’s meeting of the European Union Environment Ministers’ in Luxembourg to decide on measures regarding climate change and energy, Alternattiva Demokratika issued a statement urging Minister George Pullicino not to give in to the Italian Prime Minister’s delaying tactics.
Arnold Cassola, Alternattiva Demokratika - The Green Party Chairperson, stated: “Whilst proposing to postpone by one year measures against the effects of climate change, Prime Minsiter Silvio Berlusconi stated that there were nine EU countries backing him. I sincerely hope that Malta is not one of these countries”.
“In view of the present energy and financial crisis, it is even more so the duty of Minister Pullicino and Prime Minister Gonzi to act in the best interests of our country and therefore to press for measures to counteract climate change and global warming to be decided upon immediately”, concluded Prof. Cassola.
